Welcome to the Medical Mission Secular Institute!
The Medical Mission Secular Institute
(Gemeinschaft der Missionshelferinnen) was founded as an ecclesiastical community of women in 1953, and as Secular Institute of Diocesan Right in 1976. Sent in the mission of the church, and also sharing the tasks of the Medical Mission Institute, the main focus was originally caring for the sick with the intent to build up hospitals and training centres for nurses in India, Pakistan and in African countries.
The first Indian sisters made their promise in 1961. Today the Indian Region has 43 members.
In the meantime, our understanding of mission has changed, but the mission command of Jesus remains up-to-date.
Our understanding of our "mission" today grows from our relationship to God and an alert interest in people and their needs.
